Calender of Flag Events
|
|
On days of national commemoration the Australian National Flag may be flown on
any additional flag staff on public buildings. Special days of national
significance are notified as they arise. The following occasions which occur
annually should be noted:

| January 1 |
Anniversary of the establishment of the
Commonwealth of Australia. |
| January 26 |
Australia Day |
| March, second Monday |
Commonwealth Day. |
| April 25 |
Anzac Day. Fly flags at half mast until noon then raise to
top |
| May 9 |
Anniversary of the inauguration of Canberra as the seat of
power |
| June, second Monday |
Celebrated as the Queens Birthday. (except in W.A.,
celebrated in October) |
| July, nominated week |
NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance
Committee) week. Through out this week, the Aboriginal flag and Torres Islander
flag should be flown on additional flagpoles, where available, next to or near
the Australian National flag on Commonwealth government buildings. |
| September 3 |
Australian National Flag Day |
| October 24 |
United Nations Day. The United Nations flag should be flown
all day replacing the Australian flag if only one flagpole. If their are two
flagpoles available, the United Nations flag should be flown in the pre-eminent
position. |
| November 11 |
Remembrance Day. Flags should be flown at the top of the
flagpole 8:00am to 10:30am then at
half mast 10:30am to 11:03am, after 11:30am raise to top of flagpole. |
